Description
The Phalene has as its standard the same as the Papillon with the exception
only of its ears. The ears should be set against the head exactly the same as the
Papillon, but dropped rather than erect. This ear set gives the dropped ears a slight
lift to the base that is different than different from that of cocker or English
Springer Spaniels. The Phalene should be a dainty elegant dog , its expression
more sweet than mischievous as seen in the Papillon. The Phalene should be lively,
intelligent, and outgoing. While it is an excellent watchdog, it should not be at
all aggressive, barking delightedly at company before landing in their laps. It’s
body should be slightly longer than tall. Because of the drop ear, Phalenes often
appear longer than they really are. It should be sound with light and free movement.
Phalenes should appear to float along as they move, a truly beautiful sight to watch.
Phalene eyes should be dark in color and alert. The tail should
be up over the back in resemblance of a tea cup handle. They are very intelligent, learning
things quickly and easily. They are eager to please and excel in obedience and agility.
Phalenes are charming characters, often
clowns, who thrive in the company of their people.
